Who Should Attend
This self‐paced, web‐based training course concentrates on the duties performed by an network implementer within a typical network environment and focuses on the RUCKUS ICX series of switches running FastIron 10.0.10f. Features and functions covered in this course include, RUCKUS technologies, hardware architecture, software upgrades, basic CLI configuration, layer 2 feature configuration along with device access and security.
This course is designed to prepare students for the RUCKUS Certified Network Implementer (RCNI)
NOTE: This course is based off of firmware version 10.0.10f which coincides with an upcoming RUCKUS Certified Network Implementer course (RCNI) due Oct 1 2025. If you are preparing to take the RCNI exam prior to Oct 1, you need to reference the older version of this course which is still available via PDF here ICX - 150 Study Guide.
Course Description:
This self‐paced, web‐based training course concentrates on the duties performed by an network implementer within a typical network environment and focuses on the RUCKUS ICX series of switches running FastIron 10.0.10f. Features and functions covered in this course include, RUCKUS technologies, hardware architecture, software upgrades, basic CLI configuration, layer 2 feature configuration along with device access and security.
Course Objectives:
After completing this course, attendees should be able to:
- Understand RUCKUS technologies and how to access the resources available
- Discuss the available ICX hardware and their capabilities
- Discuss the major features and functions of RUCKUS ICX switches
- Understand hardware configurations for RUCKUS ICX switches including stacking
- Describe the Command Line (CLI) structure of RUCKUS ICX switches
- Describe the different methods available for device management including, the console port, Telnet, SSH, and web management
- Use Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) to secure a Ruckus ICX switch
- Describe the software upgrade process for RUCKUS ICX switches
- Configure Virtual LANs (VLANs) and Link Aggregation Groups (LAGs)
- Configure interface settings including, name, VLAN association, speed and duplex, and PoE capabilities
- Describe and configure Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) features supported on Ruckus ICX switches
- Describe and configure the Power over Ethernet capabilities of RUCKUS ICX switches
- Understand some of the features and capabilities of FastIron release 10.0.20x
