In 2017, Alpen, a major sporting goods retailer, introduced the RUCKUS Wi-Fi solution "Virtual Controller" and the RUCKUS R500 wireless LAN access point in some of its stores. This enabled smoother and more stable access to the wireless LAN compared to previous wireless LAN devices, leading to the company switching all of its 400-plus stores nationwide to RUCKUS wireless LAN access points. Meanwhile, Alpen headquarters' long-standing issue of wireless LAN interference caused by external signals was resolved by introducing the RUCKUS cloud-managed controller "RUCKUS One." Currently, RUCKUS wireless LAN access points have also been installed in three logistics centers, bringing the total number of wireless LAN access points in operation across the Alpen Group to approximately 1,700. All of these are managed in an integrated manner via the cloud, ensuring smooth and stable system operation.

Fast facts
Challenges
  • No signal in the store
  • When a problem occurs, it takes time to isolate the problem and respond.
  • Radio wave interference can cause communication to become unstable
Benefits
  • Achieve stable wireless LAN connections through cloud management at stores, headquarters, and logistics centers
  • Centralized management of wireless LAN access points makes it easier to isolate problems and significantly reduces response time.
  • Build a wireless LAN environment that is resistant to radio wave interference
