Ferdinand Bierbichler enables warehouse digitalization with reliable RUCKUS Wi‑Fi

For Ferdinand Bierbichler, reliable connectivity became a business requirement as the company expanded its digitalisation initiatives. Employees needed continuous access to data and mobile devices across the entire site, including demanding cold-storage environments where customer orders must be processed immediately and digitally.

Working with TILCO, Bierbichler deployed a RUCKUS wireless network delivering coverage across buildings, outdoor areas and a deep-freeze warehouse. The result has been stable connectivity throughout the site—enabling digital workflows, mobile working and the network foundation required to support ongoing digital transformation initiatives.

The Challenge: Delivering reliable warehouse connectivity across a demanding cold-storage operation

As part of a broader digitalization strategy, Ferdinand Bierbichler required always-available wireless connectivity across its operations. Employees needed access to business data from anywhere on site because customer orders can arrive at any time and must be processed immediately using mobile data collection devices.

The organization also had significant availability requirements while operating with limited internal resources. The company wanted a wireless infrastructure that was continuously available, secure, and did not require extensive internal management effort.

Coverage requirements extended across all buildings, outdoor areas and a deep-freeze warehouse operating at temperatures as low as –36°C. Providing reliable connectivity throughout these environments was essential to support warehouse operations and future digital processes.

The Solution: A resilient RUCKUS wireless network designed for industrial and cold-storage environments

Following a requirements analysis and on-site wireless survey, TILCO selected RUCKUS to deliver comprehensive wireless coverage across the entire site. RUCKUS was chosen because of its antenna technology and its suitability for extremely low-temperature environments.

The deployment included 20 access points, with additional cabling installed in the cold-storage area. Approximately 500 metres of low-temperature-capable cabling was deployed alongside access points designed to withstand the operational environment, creating a robust and durable wireless infrastructure.

RUCKUS antenna technology enabled broad coverage with fewer access points, reducing recabling requirements while helping ensure reliable connectivity throughout the facility. The environment is managed through the RUCKUS One dashboard, whose AI capabilities assist technicians with proactive troubleshooting and day-to-day network management.

The new wireless infrastructure became a foundational element of Ferdinand Bierbichler’s digitalisation programme. Employees now have stable connectivity across the entire site and can work using digital devices wherever they are located. Processes that were previously paper-based have been digitised, supporting more efficient day-to-day operations. After a year in production, the company reports stable network and Wi‑Fi performance across the facility.
