Course Description

This instructor-led training course presents the CommScope vCCAP Evo virtual Converged Cable Access Platform.

A prerequisite online eLearning training course is available that must be completed before attending this training course: VCCAP101: vCCAP Evo Overview. It is essential that students attending this class have prior DOCSIS knowledge, either through hands-on job experience or by having taken one of the DOCSIS courses that are available in CommScope University. It is also desirable, but not essential, that students have some CMTS hands-on configuration experience such as with the C100G or E6000 CER. or have taken a training class, such as the E6D201 E6000 CER Operations course.


Audience

CATV head-end personnel, network engineers, and field personnel responsible for networks that provide high-speed data-over-cable services.

Objectives

  • Learn the processes required to associate and activate a Remote PHY Device with the CommScope vCCAP Evo™ system.
  • Review the commands used for maintenance and troubleshooting within the CommScope vCCAP Evo™ system.

Course Topics

This course covers the following content:

  • DOCSIS brief review
  • vCCAP Evo™ eLearning review
  • vCCAP Command Line Interface – brief review
  • vCCAP Basic Configuration (NSI, Routing, PTP Clock)
  • Remote PHY Device Association with vCCAP instance
  • Cable Configuration (US OFDMA, DS OFDM and SC-QAM, and US SC-QAM)
  • Additional configurations (Service Group, Cable MAC, RPD Port, and US SC-QAM)
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance

Prerequisites

  • Complete the E6D108 HLX Domain Manager Overview online training course.
  • A basic understanding of CATV systems, RF plant fundamentals and data networking, and 
  • The student should also have DOCSIS knowledge (TEC202 and/or TEC301 and TEC302 recommended) and CMTS working experience, such as experience with the E6000 CER (E6D201: E6000 CER Operations instructor-led course with E6D101: E6000 CER Hardware Overview recommended).

Duration: 16 hours (spread over four half days when virtually delivered)
