Course Description

This instructor-led training course presents the CommScope Distributed CCAP Architecture (DCA) Remote MACPHY solution. 

This training course is divided in two parts. Part One covers the benefits of Remote MACPHY, a system overview, the protocols, and features used in a Remote MACPHY system.  Part Two covers ServAssure Domain Manager to simplify and ensure consistent Remote MACPHY Layer 3 configurations, maintenance and troubleshooting.


Audience

CATV head-end personnel, network engineers, and field personnel responsible for networks that provide high-speed data-over-cable services.

Objectives

  • Recognize how implementing Remote MACPHY is a phase of the decentralization and virtualization that will enable MSOs to handle ever-increasing bandwidth demands.
  • Identify and describe key system components
  • Review protocols that are used in Remote MACPHY system
  • Identify the groups of commands that are used to create the ServAssure Domain Manager Initiation, Startup, Downstream Channel and Upstream Channel template.
  • Create new Elements, such as an RMD, in ServAssure Domain Manager
  • Review maintenance, troubleshooting and licensing features in ServAssure Domain Manager

Prerequisites:

A basic understanding of CATV systems, RF plant fundamentals and data networking.

The student should also have DOCSIS knowledge (TEC202 and/or TEC301 and TEC302 recommended) and CMTS working experience, such as experience with the E6000 CER (E6D201: E6000 CER Operations instructor-led course with E6D101: E6000 CER Hardware Overview recommended).

Duration: 8-9 hours (spread over two days when delivered virtually)
