The challenge: Maintaining reliable connectivity across production, logistics and automation environments
As Mahou San Miguel continued to modernize its operations, it needed a wireless infrastructure capable of supporting production processes, logistics operations, and operational technology systems across multiple facilities. Automated transport systems, mobile devices, and connected operational technologies all depended on reliable wireless communications to operate efficiently.
The project began in the autonomous vehicle (LGV) area, where uninterrupted connectivity is essential for automated transport systems. Any network disruption could impact operational continuity and the efficiency of production and logistics workflows, making reliability a critical requirement.
Mahou San Miguel also needed dependable coverage in demanding industrial environments characterized by heavy machinery, metal structures, warehouses, logistics facilities, and large coverage areas where wireless interference can affect performance. At the same time, the company required greater visibility across multiple sites and faster issue resolution to help maintain efficient operations.
The solution: Centralized wireless networking for modern industrial operations
Mahou San Miguel deployed RUCKUS R350 indoor access points, T350 outdoor access points, Virtual SmartZone controllers, and RUCKUS AI across its facilities. Following a successful deployment in the LGV environment, the rollout expanded to factories and operational locations throughout Spain.
The wireless infrastructure delivers secure, stable connectivity across production, warehouse, and logistics environments. BeamFlex+ technology helps optimize signal delivery around obstacles, while ChannelFly technology automatically selects optimal channels to reduce interference in demanding RF environments. The network supports handheld scanners, barcode scanners, IoT sensors, tablets, and autonomous forklifts that depend on reliable connectivity to support operational workflows.
Virtual SmartZone provides centralized management and visibility through a single control panel, enabling network administrators to monitor operations across multiple sites and quickly identify issues that could impact production. Routine tasks such as firmware upgrades and network configuration are automated, allowing the OT team to focus on higher-value activities. RUCKUS AI further enhances operations through automated incident categorization, root-cause analysis, KPI monitoring, and actionable recommendations.
